Professional Learning: Sharing Practice
Process Art Workshops
Learning Goal: To help teachers recognize opportunities to incorporate process art into everyday classroom routines using accessible materials and intentional experiences.
Process: Prior to the workshop, we visited several classrooms to see their classrooms and how art is incorporated into classroom routines. Workshop begins with a presentation and discussion about how art can be incorporated into everyday Headstart classrooms. We hold an open discussion regarding our mindset as teachers and identify ways we can make art more accessible to young children. We end our workshop with hands on process art stations that demonstrate potential materials that are accessible and widely available to teachers.
Outcome: Teachers identify ways to incorporate process art into their daily classroom routines. They gain firsthand experience exploring accessible materials while reflecting on the creative and developmental skills these experiences foster in young children.
